Intel supply the Premier League club with cutting edge match highlights

Arsenal and Intel Sports have extended their partnership for a further two years.

The Premier League club has used Intel’s True View technology since 2019 to supply its fans with immersive highlights of matches. True View allows supporters to freeze match action, and view 360° replays from the players’ perspectives, among other innovative features.  It is created using dozens of 5K Ultra HD cameras in the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League club using it, with rivals Manchester City also announcing a similar extension to their original 2019 deal with the company in June. Other competitions to use True View include La Liga, the NBA, and NFL.

Arsenal’s work with the tech company has seen early success. Accorcing to the club, content using the innovation has seen a 90% increase in fans returning to watch again when compared with other match highlights. It can be seen through their Arsenal Player platform online.

The link between the two has continued during lockdown, with True View being used to create exclusive lockdown content while fans are unable to attend matches. In addition, the pair collaborated to give 250 laptops to local schoolchildren, as part of efforts to combat digital poverty in young people.

Arsenal commercial director, Peter Silverstone, said of the annonucement: “We know how much our supporters have enjoyed watching back our best moments using Intel True View technology over the past year, and we were delighted to be the first club to bring this technology to the Premier League.”

“We are excited to work with Intel on future innovations that will further enhance the experience for our global fanbase.”

GM of Intel Sports, James Carwana, added: “The club’s innovative approach to integrating True View immersive media experiences at Emirates Stadium has been a testament to its dedication to their fans. As we continue to develop our volumetric video technology, we look forward to how else Arsenal can grow and scale immersive experiences with Intel Sports.”
