TV tech show interviews BT Sport’s Jamie Hindhaugh and Andy Beale for a report on 8K.

This week’s episode of Five’s The Gadget Show features interviews with BT Sport chief operating officer Jamie Hindhaugh and chief engineer Andy Beale at the broadcaster’s first public live 8K HDR sports broadcast.

Broadcast Sport was at the same event, and you can read our behind-the-scenes story from the pre-lockdown UEFA Europa League clash between Arsenal v Olympiacos here.

Live 8K images from the pitch were screened on a Samsung 82” QLED 8K TV at the Emirates stadium.

8K provides an image four times the resolution of 4K, creating a total of 33 million pixels.

The HDR aspect provides an added depth and realism to the image so the combination of 8K and HDR offers “picture perfection that makes viewers feel as though they are really part of the action,” says BT Sport.
