Geoff Hurst joins Gabby Logan and Glenn Hoddle for charity broadcast next weekend.

Football fans will be handed the rare opportunity to watch the entirety of England’s only ever World Cup final victory this Sunday afternoon on Channel 4.

Footballing body Fifa has granted C4 the rights to the original 1966 footage of the nation’s victory over West Germany, which will be overseen by the game’s hat-trick-hero Geoff Hurst.

Airing at 1.30pm this Sunday (7 June), all donations made to the National Emergencies Trust’s Coronavirus Appeal during the game will be match-funded by NatWest up to £1.5m. Appeals to raise money for the trust will air throughout.

Gabby Logan will host Final Replay ’66 alongside Hurst and ex-England manager Glenn Hoddle.

During the pre-match build-up, Logan will interview Hurst about what it felt like to walk out that day.

The legendary match, which has not been bettered in England to this day, ended 4-2, with Hurst winning it for the Three Lions in extra time.

“We are hugely excited to give viewers the chance to re-watch the most iconic match in English football history from start to finish, in a unique format,” said C4 head of sport Pete Andrews.

“We are delighted to be helping raise money for such an amazing cause. Let’s hope we can help give all England fans a boost until this crisis really is all over.”

The game comes just more than a week prior to Premier League football returning after three months out, albeit behind-closed-doors.

For the first time ever, the BBC will be hosting live coverage of four of the 92 Premier League games that will be playing over the next few weeks.
