Whisper has agreed a deal to produce Channel 4’s Formula One coverage.
Starting with the 2020 season, the company will be continuing its work for the broadcaster – they have covered all F1 races for C4 since 2016.
The general structure of the show will stay the same as previous years, including the on-screen line-up of Steve Jones, David Coulthard, Lee McKenzie, Billy Monger, Mark Webber and Ben Edwards. There will be guest pundits in addition to this group.
This season will see highlights of all 22 races on Channel 4, as well as live coverage of the British Grand Prix.
CEO and co-founder of Whisper, Sunil Patel, said of the news: “We are very happy to retain the contract and must say a big thank you to Channel 4 and Sky for making it work.”
“I love F1, it’s such a multifaceted sport, with so much interesting material to work with.”
Former F1 driver and fellow co-founder of Whisper, David Coulthard, added: “The company’s founders (Sunil, Jake and I) met while working in the sport, but beyond that many elements of F1 – drive, ambition, innovation, speed, creativity, marginal gains – really resonate with who we are as a company. We have lots of exciting plans and it’s great to be a part such an ambitious team.”
The new F1 season starts this weekend in Melbourne. The first race is currently going ahead as normal, but later events have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak – with Bahrain behind closed doors and the Chines Grand Priz cancelled.
