The platform allows La Liga to engage with fans through digital watch parties, trivia, and gamification
La Liga has expanded its live watch party platform, which offers engagement with fans through digital watch parties, trivia, and gamification.
Created through partnerships with sports fan engagement platform LiveLike and digital solutions and data-driven technology and marketing agency WMT, the platform is being used to host events with supporters around the world.
The technology was recently used to host an event with fans in Japan, for the match between Eibar and Huesca – who both have Japanese players. La Liga ambassador Diego Forlan hosted and it was supported by sponsors HIS and PUMA, with viewers completing quizzes throughout the fixture to win a team shirt.
The plan is set to continue with further VIP watch parties to be held around the world.
Oscar Mayo, business, marketing & international development director at LaLiga, said: “We have reinvented ourselves and looked for solutions to give our fans a chance to keep sharing moments and interact with others around LaLiga matches.
“Our fans have really enjoyed being brought deeper into the game, and share unique, social experiences with their favorite teams, players, and each other, and we look forward to expanding this globally.”
WMT founder and CEO, Andres Focil, said: “We look forward to expanding on the success with LaLiga, and to work with even more brands, teams, and leagues around the world who can use the Watch Party platform to further engage fans and drive revenue.”
