She joins the organisation from IMG’s media arm

World Rugby LogoWorld Rugby has appointed Amanda Godson as its new broadcast operations manager.

She joins the organisation after leaving IMG Media last year, where she had worked since 2017 as commercial manager, media rights and aquisitions.

She also had roles at the company acting as broadcast manager at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and broadcast venue manager at the 2015 version of the competition.

World Rugby works with IMG regularly, having signed a four-year contract in 2019 that kept IMG as their exclusive commercial partner agency.

Godson joins World Rugby shortly after Chris Synnot, who was recruited from the commercial arm of the FIA World Rally Championship, WRC Promoter. He is now head of broadcast and media rights sales.

In addition, Godson arrives at World Rugby with the body being told to increase female representation on its board by at least 40% by an independent review.

World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont said in a statement: “We are undertaking this important and necessary process with the ambition of implementing and living the best-possible standards of good governance, furthering the effectiveness and diversity of our structures, ensuring they reflect the values and universality of the game.

“Our performance is best measured by actions, not just words. We are heading in a very encouraging direction – that enables us to best achieve our purpose of growing the sport worldwide by making it more relevant and accessible. All of the governance practices, processes and procedures we implement must be implemented meaningfully with that purpose in mind.”
