Barry Flanigan was formerly chief product officer at Copa90.

All3Media-backed Formula E producer Aurora Media has signed former Brave Bison vice president Barry Flanigan as chief strategy officer.

Flanigan will join Aurora imminently in the newly-created role from Copa90, leading on work to pick up new business and produce more in the multiplatform content space for broadcasters, rights-holders, sports federations and brands.

He was vice president and part of the founding management team of Brave Bison, which describes itself as the largest multi-platform video network outside of the US. He has also worked for Telegraph Media Group and News Corp.

He will report into Aurora managing director Lawrence Duffy, who said he brings a “wealth of digital expertise” to the firm.

“Barry has an extensive track record working with some of the biggest and most innovative rights owners, broadcasters and brands in the world to grow engaged fan communities,” added Duffy.

Aurora co-produces Formula E coverage with All3Media stablemate North One, with the super-indie acquiring the firm in late 2018. It was founded in 2012 by Duffy and has since been behind the Goodwood Festival of Speed coverage, ATP/WTA Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and BWF badminton.

In October, Extreme E commissioned Aurora and North One for a multi-season deal that includes more than 30 hours of live race coverage, a 20-part TV series and 300 short films.
