The results of a number of sports-related live polls that took place during the Broadcast Sport Tech Innovation Forum 2020 earlier this month.
Broadcast Sport ran a number of polls during the Broadcast Sport Tech Innovation Forum 2020 virtual event on 11-12 November, to find out the viewing habits of the attendees and their thoughts on current sports production trends.
Over the course of the two days, the event, which ran on virtual conferencing platform Hopin, was attended by an audience of around 500 sports production and broadcast leaders.
The poll results offer an interesting insight into how people access sports content; the popularity of esports for the attendees; and their views on the future of sports production.
Three-quarters of respondents believe sports production and distribution will move permanently to web-based online workflows; only a relatively small proportion (22%) watched more esports during lockdown; and an even smaller number (13%) subscribe to a sport-specific OTT platform.
Around 30% of respondents regularly watch sports on Amazon Prime Video, while roughly half the attendees subscribe to Sky Sports, and a similar amount to BT Sport. Most (75%) have seen sports on the BBC Sport website. More than half (60%) enjoyed some of the archive sports re-runs during lockdown.
