The companies have teamed up to create a highly personalised second screen platform that broadcasters can roll out to sports fans.

Stats Perform has partnered with low-latency streaming specialist NativeWaves to launch an enhanced ‘second screen’ viewing experience for mobile devices.

The platform makes it possible for sports fans to create a personalised viewer experience, overlaying video angles of their choice along with an assortment of data and information they want to see.

The stats and data come from Stats Perform while NativeWaves’ tech provides instant access to alternate camera angles, audio and data feeds without any lag or interruptions to the viewing experience.

The idea is for the second screen experience to be offered to fans via broadcast and OTT providers. The platform will first be available for football matches, then will be rolled out across other sports.

NativeWaves is part of Stats Perform’s Sports Partners Intelligence Network (SPIN), which connects technology and consulting partners with Stats Perform’s data and sports tech solutions to develop new offerings for the sports market.

Eva Wimmers, CEO of NativeWaves, said: “Combining the vast array of data, analytics and insights from Stats Perform with the technology from NativeWaves allows us to create a unique experience that offers broadcasters a range of monetisation opportunities.”

Stats Perform senior vice president of global partners and channels, Wayne Ford, adds: “Fans today want to craft and control their own viewing experience and we are thrilled to kick off this new partnership, which puts so much personalisation power in the fingertips of fans.

“It lets fans watch a match using the video angle and information they care about the most. This is the future of sports viewership and we are thrilled to kick off this project with NativeWaves.”
