Timeline TV CEO, Daniel McDonnell, was speaking at the Broadcast Sport Tech Innovation Forum

Timeline TV CEO Daniel McDonnell has revealed that the company predicts it will save 200 tonnes of C02 by the end of this year.

Remote production has meant the company has been able to cut back on flights this year, as well as the enforced Covid-19 lockdowns, and it could be a saving that sticks around.

Speaking at the Broadcast Sport Tech Innovation Forum, McDonnell said; “We’re predicting over this season to save 70% of our flights, that’s about 2 million air miles, and 200 tons of C02.”

He added that this saving could be here to stay: “Remote production is the future and it [the Covid-19 crisis] has really accelerated it.”

“The future is going to be more remote hubs.”

McDonnell was speaking on a panel alongside NEP Media Solutions head of sales, Daragh Bass, and CTV Outside Broadcasting CEO, Hamish Greig.

Greig added that there have been further gains on sustainability in other areas for OB trucks too: “A lot of our new trucks have solar panels and low carbon fuels, so this is just another step on that journey.”
