Rights to Autumn Nations Cup to be shared.

Amazon Prime Video and Channel 4 are to jointly air rugby’s inaugural Autumn Nations Cup.

The tournament, featuring the Six Nations teams, Georgia and Fiji, kicks off on 13 November and will run until 6 December.

Every game in the round-robin, two-group format will be streamed via Amazon Prime Video, with C4 simulcasting opening fixture Ireland vs Wales, as well as England vs Ireland and Ireland vs Georgia.

Sunset + Vine Wales is producing the coverage.

Amazon’s presenting team will be led by Gabby Logan and Bryan Habana, with C4 yet to reveal its line-up.

Amazon Prime Sport managing director Alex Green said: “This is a unique event, bringing a new level of competitiveness to Autumn international rugby and will offer something back to all the fans who have missed top-level rugby.”

C4’s head of sport Pete Andrews said the tournament will launch live on a Friday evening. “The England Ireland match-up the following week is a mouth-watering prospect,” he added.

The Autumn Nations Cup has been lined up to replace the autumn rugby internationals which have been kyboshed by the Covid-19 pandemic. It will follow shortly after the conclusion of the Six Nations championship, which will air on the BBC and ITV.
