The 3pm blackout of matches has been removed, at least in the short term, meaning all matches this month will be available on TV.

As Broadcast Sport predicted earlier today, the 3pm blackout for Premier League games on television has once again been lifted, meaning that fans will now be able to watch every one of the matches in September on TV.

The decision was made at a Premier League meeting today, with clubs agreeing all 28 matches to be played in September will be broadcast live in the UK.

The matches will be shown on the league’s broadcasting partners – Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and BBC.

17 of the 28 matches during September were already scheduled for Sky Sports and BT Sport, and Sky Sports will now broadcast an additional six games; BT Sport picks up a further three; and BBC and Amazon Prime Video will broadcast one each.

It’s uncertain what will happen longer-term, as the Premier League simply says it is “considering appropriate arrangements for matches which will take place after 1 October. The Premier League is working on a step-by-step approach, while monitoring the developments regarding the league’s number one priority of getting fans back into full stadia as soon as possible, with safety always being our priority.”

That statement at least hints that while fans aren’t able to attend games in person, the 3pm blackout will remain lifted.
