LaLiga club turns to AI to provide on-demand content for fans, coaches and journalists.

LaLiga club RC Celta de Vigo has brought in AI video recording in its training ground and press rooms, using tech from start-up Cinfo (one of the winners of LaLiga’s Startup Competition last year).

Cinfo’s product Tiivi automates the recording, reproduction and editing of content that coaches, press and fans can access through the cloud.

A virtual scoreboard, voice-overs, digital advertising, replays and other graphics can be added to make the footage more immersive and valuable.

Fans can watch training videos live or on demand, and journalists can attend press conferences virtually and access recordings when required. Coaches can also closely monitor individual players during training sessions and matches.

Tiivi uses multicamera filming and utilises artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically detect people and objects, and sort and edit the footage in real-time.

Carlos Salvador, commercial director at RC Celta de Vigo, said: “This project will allow us to take a significant step forward in terms of innovation and technology and will provide us with new content that can be used internally, for closer monitoring of players, or externally, for journalists accessing our press conferences.”

Cinfo is a Spanish company and was one of 10 businesses selected as a finalist of LaLiga’s 2019 Startup Competition. The Tiivii pilot project is the second pilot project to come from the competition, following the launch of Australian startup Solos’ wearable technology project at Real Sociedad.
