Behind-the-scenes during the post-production on Sky Sports’ recent 120-minute Sky Original documentary, Tiger Woods: Back.

Sky Production Services (SPS), Sky’s in-house production wing, was commissioned by Sky Sports to provide offline/online, grading, and audio mixing on Tiger Wood: Back, a 120-min Sky Original charting the rise, fall, and comeback of the golf icon for Sky’s new documentary channel.

The brief was to capture the “rollercoaster of emotions” experienced in Tiger Woods’ 2017-18 season, as he underwent life-threatening surgery on his back and scored his first PGA Tour win in five years.

The post-production on the documentary was completed during lockdown.

SPS editor Robbie Easterbrook gathered and sorted through vast amounts of archive material, managed hours of content, converted aspect ratios, designed motion graphics, and lay the music tracks throughout the documentary.

The team worked through various remote working issues, including unstable WiFi connectivity and internet speeds, utilising a combination of HP remote graphic software and equipment (monitors, keyboards, GFX tablets, and docks) sent out to creatives’ homes.

The production was edited in Avid and After Effects, graded in Baselight grade, and mixed in ProTools. It was delivered to Sky Sports and Sky on-demand after around eight weeks in post-production.

SPS says: “Our editor, colourist, and audio engineer was able to craft and finesse a genuinely entertaining, emotional and captivating story which transcends the world of golf.”

Their dedication to surmounting the technical and logistical challenges faced while helping to deliver a landmark product for our customers is exemplary.”
