AI-driven system will be used to capture and broadcast the majority of the platform’s future sport content.

Sports streaming service sporttotal.tv has developed an AI-driven production system that will be used for “almost all” the future sport broadcasts on the platform.

The system utilises a weatherproof 180-degree camera and artificial intelligence (AI) created by Berlin-based Sporttotal Development Lab that enables the automation of the full HD broadcast of all ball games.

The 180-degree camera is 16cm in height and is installed on a mast; the roof of the stadium; or in a sports building at the height of the centre line.

Sporttotal vice president digital technology Kasar Masood, said: “Developing our own camera is a huge step for us. It makes us independent of suppliers while going even further by setting a new benchmark in automated sports coverage. We are very proud of having developed our own camera system within such a short space of time.”

Sporttotal director Dr. Caroline Päffgen, added: “The development of sporttotal’s own camera system has enabled us to reduce our costs as well as to generate new sources of revenue from white labelling potential.”
