It will host daily sports news and a range of original sports programming.

A new subscription sports channel, Unbeaten, has launched on OTT platform TVPlayer to cover sports news and broadcast original programming featuring “high-profile” sports stars.

The channel will host a range of daily news shows – Life’s a Pitch, Sport Confidential, The Football Review, FIBA World Basketball, Combat and The Inside Line – and has access to a catalogue of archive content across football, Formula 1, basketball, golf, tennis, combat and esports.

Unbeaten will cover events such as the Olympics, European championship football and the FIFA World Cup in “magazine-style preview and review shows.”

The channel has been created by TVPlayer-owner, digital distribution specialist Alchimie. It currently distributes 150+ channels in countries including Germany, UK, France, Spain, and Australia, and believes Unbeaten will provide OTT operators with a straightforward option for carring a dedicated linear sports channel.

On TVPlayer, Unbeaten is part of a premium bundle which is £6.99 a month. The bundle (which is currently 16 channels but will increase to 21 channels by the end of April) includes Discovery, TLC, History, Lifetime and C&I.

“It is interesting timing for the launch of this channel, given that live sports events are currently on hiatus.”

Alchimie CEO and founder Nicolas d’Hueppe, said: “We have created Unbeaten to super-serve the voracious appetites of sports fans around the world. The OTT channel, which is available on a wide range of digital platforms, is carefully curated and allows armchair sports addicts to access some of the best existing sports shows as well as new content specifically created for Unbeaten viewers.”

Alchimie UK’s managing director, Barry Llewellyn, added: “TVPlayer is delighted to be the inaugural launch platform for Unbeaten. It is interesting timing for the launch of this channel, given that live sports events are currently on hiatus around the world, but the enormous appetite of fans for sports content remains totally intact and Unbeaten is perfectly positioned with a great collection of news updates and video magazine formats both now and when live sport returns to action.”
