The broadcaster is also refusing to refund customers
Sky Sports has released a statement regarding the coronavirus’ impact on the sporting calendar.
With major sporting events from around the world cancelling or postponing their events, it has left the broadcaster without much live content for its channels.
This had left customers wondering if they would be able to get refunds for the subscriptions to the service – but Sky has made clear that this isn’t the case.
BT Sport revealed similar news before the weekend, and its rival appears to be taking a similar stance.
Managing director of Sky Sports, Rob Webster, said: “Sky Sports is working closely with all our partners to better understand the impact on the annual sporting calendar. We recognise that it is a fast-moving situation and we are working at speed to ensure we continue to deliver for all of our customers”
“A number of sporting events have been postponed, but not cancelled, so we expect to be able to show these when they are rescheduled. Therefore, our live schedule is likely to look different for a period of time. As more information becomes available, we will continue to provide updates to all of our customers.”
Covid-19 has forced the vast majority of sporting events to be postponed for the time being – most recently the Premier League and other British football competitions decided to suspend their seasons. There are also doubts over summer tournaments such as the Olympics and Euro 2020.
