The production company sets up office after winning a contract to cover cricket in the country.
Whisper has set up an office in New Zealand, headed by Tracy Wong, which will focus on the production of New Zealand Cricket games.
The office is Whisper’s fourth and its first outside of the UK. Its other offices are in Kew, Maidenhead and Cardiff.
The company is now 10 years old, having initially been backed with funding from Channel 4’s Indie Growth Fund. Earlier this year, Sony Pictures Television invested in the company, and Channel 4’s involvement ended.
Whisper currently produces sports including NFL, The Paralympics, Formula One, SailGP, Women’s Super League and International Cricket, and also has a growing unscripted offering, with productions including Channel 5’s Liam vs Noel and The Talk for Channel 4.
Whisper co-founder Sunil Patel said: “It’s fantastic to be setting up in New Zealand and to be generating interest in Whisper in different parts of Australasia. I’m looking forward to taking our production approach and creativity there and it will be great to work with the local production talent.”
