Tennis fans are being offered in-depth analysis of live games, created by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The Fédération Française de Tennis (FFT) has added some AI-powered analytics to the Roland-Garros tournament, which are available through the Roland-Garros app and in the Infosys Match Centre on RolandGarros.com.

The insights, created by AI specialist Infosys, “enhance the tournament experience at home and reinvent the ways coaches and players strategise and improve their game,” says Infosys.

The Match Centre now provides fans with different ways of visualising a match, including MatchBeats for point-by-point play; stroke-summary to understand the go-to-strokes of players; rally-analysis to look at how tactics change; and CourtVision to understand serve, return, and rally based insights.

Infosys is also powering a mobile and tablet app experience for coaches and players at Roland-Garros. This data-driven app creates near-instant match replays and assessments, incorporating match analysis, rally replay, stroke analysis, and on-device video highlight editing and production capabilities.

The company is also providing match analysis, natural language generation-based match synopsis for FFT journalists to integrate into their articles.

Furthermore, Infosys is powering the automatic creation of graphics including stats, trends and charts. It is also creating AI highlights within minutes of the completion of each game. These are created by picking the most interesting and dramatic points by using various cues including player emotion, crowd noise [might be tricky with the limited crowds], and match-context.
