The Amazon-owned platform is moving beyond its traditional esports/gaming heartland.
Twitch has moved its sports content to a standalone category (/Twitchsports), and has announced forthcoming exclusive content from Real Madrid, Arsenal, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain will be released on their Twitch channels.
Amazon-owned Twitch’s new sports category will also include channels from the NBA, NHL, NWSL, UFC, and RFL, as well as star athletes’ personal channels (including prolific Twitch user, Formula 1 driver Lando Norris).
Amazon has ramped up its use of Twitch for streaming sports of late, taking the platform beyond its usual esports and gaming content.
Live sports Amazon has shown on Twitch include streams of its Premier League content, as well as its Thursday Night Football show.
It also has deals in place to show UEFA Champions League matches on Twitch in Germany, and USA Basketball.
