Sky Pick will show the game and the moment Liverpool lifts the Premier League trophy.
Sky Sports has announced it’s making the Liverpool v Chelsea Premier League match on 22 July free-to-air on Sky Pick. After the game, Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy, which will also be part of the free broadcast.
Sky Sports made the decision to make the match one of its 25 free-to-air Project Restart games after talks with Liverpool Football Club and the Premier League.
Liverpool fans will also have the opportunity to watch the game with friends and family through the Sky Sports Fanzone on the Sky Sports website and app.
Sky Sports revealed that its Premier League coverage has reached record viewing figures since the return of the competition. The Merseyside derby on 21 June averaged an audience of 5 million and peaked at 5.5 million.
Sky Sports managing director Rob Webster said: “We are delighted to make this occasion free-to-air in the UK. Liverpool v Chelsea is always one of the Premier League’s most eagerly anticipated fixtures,and now more viewers than ever before will have the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by what will unfold in front of them on Wednesday 22 July.”
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden added: “We were pleased to secure a third of Premier League matches on free-to-view TV so fans could all enjoy this season like no other. Sky Sports deciding to broadcast this match is brilliant for Liverpool fans who will now get to see their players lift the trophy.”
Sky Sports Main Event and Pick will show the match with Sky Sports crowd noise, while just the stadium sound option will air on Sky Sports Premier League.
The game kicks off at Anfield at 20:15, with the build-up starting at 20:00.
