The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment, Football Association Pretoria, the Premier League and La Liga had complained about the mobile app Mobdro
The Premier League and La Liga were among the complainants that have brought down piracy operation Mobdro.
The application had over 100 million users, and illegally distributed video streams and TV channels. The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment and Football Association Pretoria were also among the complainants.
Europol, supported by the Spanish National Police, investigated these reports and discovered a number of connected websites and platforms located in Spain and Portugal with connections to servers in Czechia.
Mobdro’s profits have been estimated at more than €5 million (£4.28m), made through advertisements and selling user information to a company related to botnet and DDoS attacks.
This comes after a Synamedia report last year found that a ‘staggering’ 83% of the most engaged fans who watch sport every week access illegal streams.
