The deal will allow the GolTV network to begin airing Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions bouts
DAZN and Mediapro have agreed a deal that allows the free-to-air GolTV network to show the former’s boxing portfolio.
Wednesday nights will see the network broadcasting the best classic fights, while Friday nights will have replays of recent boxing bouts. Former and current stars such as Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez will be among those in action, pulling from DAZN’s rights to Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions fights. Regular Gol contributors Jaime Ugarte, Emilio Marquiegui and Manel Berdonce are providing coverage.
For the first week, starting tonight on 19 August, the European super-lightweight title fight between Spain’s Sandor Martin and Britain’s Joe Hughes will be shown on the Wednesday. Meanwhile, on Friday, recent Commonwealth middleweight fight between British fighters Felix Cash and Jason Welborn will be replayed.
Veronica Diquattro, DAZN’s chief customer and innovation officer, said: “This new alliance with Gol is part of our global strategy and helps us to reinforce our objective of increasing the general interest in the different sports competitions that fans can then enjoy live and on demand through DAZN.”
Director of Gol, Francesc Carbonell, added: “The deal allows us to continue offering the best sports events to Gol viewers, and to reach, thanks to DAZN, all boxing fans in Spain.”
