The broadcaster is already showing the men’s competition after it restarted last week
Eleven Sports Portugal will broadcast the final stages of the Women’s Champions League.
The men’s competition is already being shown by the broadcaster, and now it will add to this with the women’s version. The quarter-finals are being played on 21 and 22 August, the semi-finals on 25 August, and the final on 30 August.
The quarter-finals feature some big names, with Atlético Madrid v Barcelona, Lyon v Bayern Munich, Arsenal v PSG, and Glasgow City v Wolfsburg. Matches are being played in Spain, split between Athletic Bilbao’s San Mamés in Bilbao, and Real Sociedad’s Anoeta Stadium in San Sebastián.
This news will be a boost to Eleven, which recently announced its intention to build a dedicated women’s content platform as part of its new content strategy.
Jorge Pavão de Sousa, managing director of Eleven Sports Portugal, said of the news: “We’re delighted to supplement our offering of the UEFA Champions League with the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the coming weeks. We’re committed to building out a really compelling portfolio of women’s sport in the coming months and this is an important step in that journey.”
