Return to Premier League football after three-month hiatus draws big audience for Sky Sports
With pubs remaining closed and football having been off screens for three months, viewers tuned in in droves to watch Arsenal and Man City’s match-up, which kicked off at 8.15pm.
The 2.6m (14.3%) who witnessed Arsenal’s drubbing across Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League were likely the most for any Sky Sports football match for more than three years – ahead of the 2m (12%) who watched Manchester United play Liverpool in January 2017.
Last night’s game, which ended 3-0 to City, peaked as the half-time-whistle blew.
It was preceded by Aston Villa vs Sheffield United from 4.30pm, which only drew half the audience at 1.4m (10.0%) – with the game ending 0-0.
