The broadcaster will show the return of the Premier League and also unveil a new OTT app.

Australia’s Optus Sport is showing all 92 remaining live games of the 2019/20 Premier League season.

In common with many other broadcasters screening live matches being played in empty stadiums, fans will have the option to watch games with or without virtual crowd noise specific to the stadium in which the game is being played.

Optus Sport is presenting each game with studio coverage, virtual analysis from players’ perspectives, and live warm-ups on social media for certain matches.

To mark the Premier League’s return, the broadcaster has created a new mobile app with new features to “provide an even more immersive experience”.

Optus Sport head of TV and content, Corin Dimopoulos, said: “Optus Sport is the exclusive Australian home of the world’s most watched football league. Optus Sport’s coverage of the Premier League includes comprehensive live programming and all games available on-demand, including the popular mini matches and highlights, so viewers never miss a moment of the action.

“We have re-built our app from the ground-up to give football fans the best possible experience when streaming live or on-demand. The new app design is bursting with more content, archives and competitions, two round-the-clock football channels, personalised content feeds and a new Match Centre, which combines all the coverage and stats in one place.”

The Premier League restarts on Wednesday (18 June), with a full round of fixtures beggining on 20 June. It was suspended on 13 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
