The Professional Darts Corporation’s home-staged tournament, Home Tour darts, is being televised each night from 7:30pm.
One of the few examples of live sports still on our screens is the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Home Tour darts tournament, which began on Friday.
The competition runs for 32 consecutive nights, broadcasting live and on-demand for free online through the pdc.tv website, and live through bookmakers’ websites.
Viewers can register to watch the live matches on a dedicated PDCTV OTT service.
The PDC Hour Tour features elite-level darts players at home, competing via live video calls.
Four players are in action each night, starting at 7:30pm – each plays each other in the best of nine legs, with the winner crowned each night. The action is hosted by darts commentator Dan Dawson, and live score graphics are also shown on screen.
After the 32 nights are complete, the 32 group winners then move on to the next stage of the competition.
PDC chairman Barry Hearn said: “We’ve spent the last few weeks planning and looking at what is possible, and I’m delighted to be able to present a concept which gives all Tour Card Holders the opportunity to take part. The PDC Home Tour will provide a regular supply of live sport to fans, showcasing the talent and unique characters of our players to both existing and new audiences. The event will also give players a chance to play competitive darts in this down period in preparation for the return to normal action, whenever that may be.”
The streaming of the event is being enabled by StreamAMG, which has operated the PDCTV service since 2016. Production is handled remotely, with live delivery and distribution to partners through the BT Tower and StreamAMG’s cloud distribution network.
