The governing body is dealing with postponements to elite football
UEFA has announced that it will show free archive content from the Champions League and other competitions on its digital channels.
With the coronavirus pandemic causing elite football to be postponed worldwide, the governing body is attempting to fill the gap for quarantined fans in the meantime.
Uefa.tv, the organisation’s OTT channel, will show the footage while its social media channels engage fans. Uefa.tv is now available on Apple TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV, as well as on web, Android, iOs smartphone and tablet apps.
Fans will be able to ask questions of legendary players who were involved in the matches, and Uefa.com will complement the coverage with interviews, features and statistics from the archive. There will also be updates on current competitions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the normal schedule for live football, classic Champions League games will be shown on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Europa League on Thursdays. There will also be matches from the European Championship, Women’s Euros, and Women’s Champions League involved in the output.
This is a similar plan to international football governing body FIFA. It announced last week that it will release classic matches on its site, YouTube, and Weibo, deciding which games by Twitter votes.
