The company will handle international sales for the film about AFL legend Adam Goodes
Noah Media Group has acquired the international sales rights to Australian Football League feature documentary The Australian Dream.
Directed by Daniel Gordon, known for his work on Hillsborough, written by journalist Stan Grant, and produced by Oscar winner John Battsek, the documentary is focused on AFL legend Adam Goodes.
It follows the story of indigenous footballer Goodes through the 2013-15 season, exploring race, identity, and belonging in Australian society.
Noah Media will sell the film through its international sales and distribution arm, Noah X. Their rights exclude Australia, Canada, the UK, and airlines. It is the first time that a third party project will be sold by the company, and the deal was negotiated with Lorton Entertainment.
Released in Australian theatres last year, The Australian Dream will be theatrically released in the UK by Dogwoof – with exclusive UK TV rights already held by the BBC. After its original release it has already won the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award for Best Documentary, and audience awards at film festivals such as Melbourne and Palm Springs.
Head of international sales for Noah Media Group, Catherine Quantschnigg, said: “The Australian Dream is a thought- provoking story on how we can become more united as a people, something which has never been more important than now. We are thrilled to be working with Lorton Entertainment to bring this wonderful film to TV buyers around the world.”
Exectuive producers Tommy Gordon and Joel Kennedy, of Lorton Entertainment, added: “The Australian Dream is an incredibly powerful story about a shared history and our failures to reconcile and how we can become better, as individuals and as a society. We are extremely excited to be working with Noah Media.”
