Live football matches are currently suspended indefinitely in the Spanish top division
LaLigaTV has launched a new daily show, La Liga Classics, to air while live matches are suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Airing daily at 6pm GMT on the LaLigaTV channel, the programme will also be available on broadcast partner Premier Sports’ channels – which include the free-to-air FreeSports. Premier Sports will also have access to additional classic La Liga matches and other exclusive content.
Created as part of an effort to support the #StayAtHome campaign to keep people indoors during the Covid-19 pandemic, and will show classic matches from the last two decades of La Liga action.
The first week’s games will include David Beckham’s first El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2003, a Madrid derby from 2009/10, and Barcelona at RCD Espanyol in 2010/11.
In addition to the main show, there will be Talking Football, hosted by Guillem Balague, LaLiga 90 Years of History, the LaLiga World magazine show, LaLiga ZAP, Messi’s Top Goals, LaLiga Interviews, and more during the hiatus from new football action.
LaLigaTV was only launched in January, and the channel has an early challenge with the pause in action from its main source of content.
