The series will offer a behind-the-scenes look at the Formula One champion
Amazon Prime Video has announced the creation of a new documentary about two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso, named Fernando.
The series will follow the driver and his team’s journey over the last year in five episodes. His manager Luis Garcia Abad, sister Lorena Alonso, his partner Linda Morselli, and colleagues such as fellow racing driver Carlos Sainz and others will also appear in the documentary.
It covers Alonso’s preparation for a first appearance at the Dakar Rally, and time both on and off the track at the Indianapolis 500 and 24 hours of Le Mans.
The documentary will be available in Spain, France, Italy, the UK, and Latin America later this year, and is produced by The Mediapro Studio.
Ricardo Carbonero, head of Prime Video content, Spain, said of the announcement: “We are proud to exclusively bring this project to Prime members, with never before seen images of Alonso’s most intimate and personal moments.”
Director of content at the Mediapro Studio, Javier Mendez, added: “The confidence of Fernando Alonso and his team to allow us to put a camera in their day to day lives has been key to the development of this series.”
“Fernando will show the public a personal and very close vision of the driver, different from what we have seen so far. The series will also allow Fernando to share moments of reflection on a possible return to F1.”
