It is looking for a high-quality viewer experience
LaLiga are set to produce the latest El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona in 4K-HDR when it is played on 1 March.
It is also set to make use of some of the latest camera and graphics technology to film one of the biggest games in world football.
Along with official producer Mediapro, LaLiga will broadcast the match with 33 simulcast 4K HDR-HD cameras at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
There will also be an array of the latest camera technology. Tracking cameras from MediaCoach will follow the game automatically and offer a live tactical shot for coaching teams. The signal can be analysed in real time in the stadiums or through streaming from anywhere, plus they can modify the audio depending on the ball’s location.
In addition, an aerial camera will be placed 21 metres above the pitch, giving more speed and a flexible view of the play. The compact HD camera has a 2/3 wide-angle lens and a 14x zoom that broadcasts images by optical fibre from the playing field to the mobile unit, and can cover 7000m² in times without play (pre-match, half time, and post-match).
The sheer volume of the 38 ultra high definition cameras in the stadium also allows for 360° replays, and ‘be the player’ tech – which allows viewers to experience the view of a player on the pitch.
Finally, there will be live 3D graphics in use by broadcasters to complement the normal coverage. This allows tactical and positioning changes and a deeper analysis of the moves to be displayed during replays.
El Clasico takes place on Sunday, and will be hotly contested with only two points separating the rivals at the top of La Liga.
